Child Labour Issue
Ivory Coast the hell for kids.
Well, UNICEF have made a report in 1998 about the Ivory Coast cocoa farmers used enslaved children in the production of cocoa. The news of child slavery and child trafficking were also widespread across the globe (R. Sudarsan & C. Sumana 2001) The USA department have estimated about 15 000 kids were involved in the cocoa production and the Chocolate Manufactures Association have acknowledged about the usage of child slavery in the production. Malian migrants have worked for a long time at Ivory Coast cocoa farm but due to the falling of cocoa price in year 2000, the farmers stop paying the workers. There are few boys which were saved by the Malian Counsel claim of not being paid for nearly five years and would be beaten if they tried to run away. The kids wore torn and grubby clothes. Lots of scars can be seen on their legs due to machete injuries. They also have to work non-stop for nearly 12 hours. These kids work from six in the morning and ended up their shift late in the evening.
It is really sad looking at these kids working non stop and getting tortured everyday.
